Every day is a
happening day
The
Lapp village of Ylläs is located in a beautiful pine forest
by the Ylläs fell, only about one kilometre away from the
main road to Ski Center. The heart of the “village” is
Restaurant Poro, built to imitate a sun figure used in
the old Same people’s shaman drums. The building itself is
made of wood and rock. In this atmosphere the delicious
scents and tastes of the Lappish food can really be
enjoyed.
Father Christmas has got his own house next to the
restaurant. In December one can spot the Santa and the elves
almost daily working hard for the Christmas season. The
house is then full of Finnish handicrafts.
We also have some activities planned for children and
families. The elves, gnomes and earth spirits will lead the
customers to the world of huskies, reindeers and Northern
lights.
Husky rides
The Husky elf Nastyweather will tell you everything
he knows about the Siberian husky dogs, after that everybody
gets to pose with the dogs before heading out for a speedy
two kilometres ride. The price will be 28 € for adults, 18 €
for under 12 years of age.

Reindeer rides
The
reindeer elf Bungler and his reindeers are ready to take you
for an unforgettable ride. You will get to know interesting
facts about the reindeers' life, and you will also get to
experience what a reindeer sleigh ride feels like (1 km
ride). The price is 25 € for adults, 15 € for children under
12 years of age.

Northern Lights Path
The
newest activity in LappVillage is called the Northern Lights
Path. In a dark and snowy forest
you can see ten different kinds of Northern Lights pictures
illuminated electrically or with lanterns.
The total length of the walk is some 300
meters. In Santa’s House we also have an interesting
Northern Lights pictures sales exhibition.
The
path is open from 15.12. until the end February every
Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and in March from 7 p.m.
until 9 p.m. The entrance is free.
